India still has not decided whether to buy a fighter jet Su-30MKI multirole aircraft or keep the French Rafale. Indian Minister for External air defense Affairs in the North East Region Vijay Kumar Singh says Sputnik Thursday (12/02/2015) by the price of the Su-30MKI is much cheaper as a matter of ability air defense is also no less.
The statement came after the Indian Air Force said in January it could not confirm media reports that India wants to scrap the deal with the French Rafale and buying Russian jets instead.
Some local media reported in recent days India could withdraw from the agreement with Dassault Aviation on the purchase of 126 Rafale multirole combat aircraft and go to Russia for talks about the Su-30 instead. Reasons cited by the Indian media including the French reluctance to deliver the technology to the Indian side and the increase in the price of jet.
In January, a source in the Indian Defense Ministry told Sputnik that the country has not made a decision regarding the purchase of Rafale jet. According to sources, the Su-30s is seen as an alternative if a deal with France to be canceled.
